If you want to relax and feel the potential of the future to be ecologically sensitive and absolutely amazing, take the time to listen to this TED interview with Elon Musk.  He fascinates me so much, I’ve listened to the talk twice…he’s so far ahead of the crowd it’s stunning.

This genius inventor is one of my (many) heroes…the projects he is working on have progressed rapidly, elegantly, and are about to be released to speed up the progress of electric transportation, 100 giga factories with enough power to fuel the world, semi-trucks that could pull a the most powerful diesel semi up a hill in a tug-of-war, and multi-level tunnels under LA with cars descending through an elevator and then speeding underground on electric skates.

May this man live in robust health and creativity for a hundred years…BRAVO BRAVO!!!

“…the appalling silence of the good people.”

Microsoft Word - Document3History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.                    Martin Luther King,  Junior

This Earth…and so much more!

Earth in CommonWell, yes and … no.

We have much more in common that our beloved Great Mother!
We have our humanity in common: our innate love of life, our innate altruism, our universal wish for love, peace, happiness, and prosperity for ourselves and our children.  (All children are our children.)
This is the time of the Great Awakening  – the Great Turning – and all we need do is practice that w
hich we want to become.  Its essential to practice that which we want to feel and be and radiate to others and the living world, because, what we practice is always what we become.

“Let me ask you a question. How much time have you spent today thinking about either the past or the present? Obsessing over things you can’t change or events you won’t be able to control? If you’re like most of us, probably too much.

Which is why right now I want to share a very simple tool with you that will allow you to both step out of the past for good and stay out of the future. A tool that will allow you live in this moment, which is the only place that you can truly find success and happiness.

Sometimes Calley’s work takes her off-island, and this is her latest completed project, A Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts Art in Public Places Stained Glass Mosaic Mural at Pukalani Elementary School on Maui.

It is titled NA WAO A’O PI’ILANI – The Life Giving Forests of Maui.  Ancient Hawaiian wisdom states, “Hahai no ka ua i ka ulula’au. – The rain follows after the forest.

Destroy the forest, the rains will cease, and the land will become a desert.  With over 97% of Maui’s original dryland forests already history, the beautiful island of Maui is well on its way to becoming a desert.  Depicted in the mural is the message that “Water is Life” with the triangles and surrounding pattern showing the water cycle.  Lilinoi, the goddess of the fine mists and of Haleakala, also beautifully depicted in the mural, instructs her listening students that the water does not come from the clouds; it comes from the trees, who gather the clouds, to water the land.

Assisted by over 300 people, the mural was a two-year project, and notably included about 185 Pukalani students, mostly 4th graders who crafted the ‘lei of aloha’ border surrounding the mural.  For more information and many more photos, visit Calley’s website.

Check out Reuben Margolin!

Reuben Margolin may well be the single best sculptor I have ever seen.  I found his art jaw dropping!  It is so big, so complex, so elegant, so ingenious, you have just got to see it!

Egg whites alone? or egg yolks? Which are better?

grumpy chickenHave you ever seen a more indignant chicken?  I’d be grumpy too if my hard-earned product were so often disparaged.  I really enjoyed this blog from Care2.com’s Healthy Living Section.

I too believe we need to be better informed about the real culprits to our health, and better embrace the wholesome goodness of real food.  Check this out for a good read on the debate over egg whites vs yolks…I couldn’t agree more!

MAKE STRESS YOUR FRIEND An Important TED TALK by Health Psychologist, Kelly McGonigal  For Your Life and Your LOVED ONES

Turning what we know about how important cultivating a positive mindset is relates also to our stress.  This talk was a wonderful mind shift to correct our views on the harmful effects of the physiological aspects of stress.

The latest stress studies show that people who think their stress is harmful are indeed, adversely affected by their stress.  For those who can understand and through understanding reassure their bodies that this rev is making them stronger, get stronger

What is stress?  It is the body’s reaction to the mind’s thinking which sets the emotional bodies feeling and reeling…that negative, or scary, dismal, pessimistic, or fearful thinking, or negative projection into the future is, over time, harmful.  And yet, McGonigal shows that the symptoms of stress are physically very like the states of courage and joy!

It’s how we ultimately think about stress, even in retrospect, that really matters.  Our view of the stress matters more to the body than the stress itself.

What we believe is, as we are all learning and remembering, is that what we focus on and what we think repeatedly is of paramount importance in having a healthy resilient life.

I hope you will relax, make some hot tea, take heart, and enjoy this talk.
