Hundai Kona tops 600 miles/charge at slow European city speeds, and, more EV’s on the road will save billions of dollars, thousands of lives, and protect our climate!

The Tesla S Long Range Plus exceeded the 400-mile/charge mark, and the upcoming Lucid Air is projected to be the first EV with a 500-mile range.  If you’re in a congested city traffic moving at 19MPH (!), your new Hundai Kona will go 620 miles on a charge.

“Vehicle electrification in the US could prevent hundreds to thousands of premature deaths annually while reducing carbon emissions by hundreds of millions of tons,” said study leader, Daniel Peters.  “This highlights the potential of co-beneficial solutions to climate change that not only curb greenhouse gas emissions but also reduce the health burden of harmful air pollution.”

YAY!  BRAVO VERMONT for banning food waste in the trash!  Yay for composting!  I Love  Vermont!  One of the most ecologically progressive states in the US, Vermont has the most comprehensive ban on single use plastics, and just implemented the FOOD SCRAP BAN.  Everyone is now required to compost their food waste.

While a remarkable 72% of all Vermonters already compost, 20% of Vermont’s waste is food, which produces methane gas (25 X more dangerous in affecting climate change than CO2) The state invested nearly a billion dollars in composting facilities , education, and infrastructure to help all restaurants, food outlets and Vermonters compost!!

YAY!!!  BRAVO GERMANY!!!  Germany has banned the sale of all single-use plastics including cutlery, straws, plastic Q-tips, balloon sticks and Styrofoam cups and boxes.  This will take effect within ONE YEAR, by June 3, 2021!!!  Take note world and follow Germany’s lead

Never thought I’d hear myself say that! I am so grateful to DOLE, who has committed to eliminate their MASSIVE amount of food waste by 2025. Some of the cool things they are developing: turning pineapple skins and banana leaves into packaging materials, making snacks from “unwanted” misshapen produce, eliminating plastic packaging, reaching net-zero carbon emissions, and processing excess food waste into bio-gas to power its processing plants. ALL THIS WITHIN FIVE YEARS!!!!

GREAT NEWS IN A NUTSHELL!

Bravo to the people of Mexico City!  Local patrons master-minded and are privately funding 1000 columns (15 ACRES!) on the busy thoroughfare now named The Greenway, which will amount to of Vertical Gardens/Living Walls.in the busiest part of the city.  The project features training in this important urban art form and worthy work for prisoners.

While there’s a note on the project’s cost vs planting new trees, I am a huge fan of Living Walls and I am very excited to see Mexico City’s brilliant efforts.  I love this!  The walls uptake carbon, emit oxygen, help calm, quiet, beautify, and uplift the street!

At this crossroads in time, we need to plant billions of trees and create Living Walls and Roofs everywhere we can. Read more…

As we know, the great gift of Covid-19 has been a huge drop in toxic air pollution worldwide, most notably over China and India.  The clearing of the rivers and streams, the return of beautiful views and vistas is a healthy ecosystem boon for all species on Earth.
